Consultation on the two Sussex LNRS has now closed
The public consultation on the West Sussex Local Nature Recovery Strategy and the East Sussex and Brighton & Hove Local Nature Recovery Strategy closed at 11.55PM on the 26th November 2025.
We wish to thank the hundreds of local people, groups and organisations who filled in a consultation survey, added their comments to the interactive Local Habitat Map, or emailed the LNRS leads directly with their feedback. Over 730 submissions of feedback were received.
We also appreciate the many others who engaged with the process in some way (for example, by watching a webinar, visiting this site, or reading a newsletter etc.) and who have also been part of the journey so far.
What happens next
The Sussex Nature Recovery team are reviewing all the feedback received to understand what needs to be added, removed or amended before the two strategies can be published in Spring 2026.
A consultation report, to document the feedback received and how it has been addressed will be published in February.
As part of its response, the team is considering how to make the strategies more accessible. The draft consultation versions contain a huge amount of information, some of which has never been collated for Sussex before. However, in document form, this can be very unwieldy. We want to ensure that the final version of the strategies is as useful and user-friendly as possible.
The team is also working through what happens next in terms of delivery and how best we can all take the LNRS principles, priorities and measures forward. More information will be shared in due course.
